TRANSPORTATION

In The Air

  • Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (MDE)

Tip: For some travelers, it may be more cost effective to book a flight to Bogota (BOG) and then a separate flight to Medellín (MDE). There are 168 direct flights per day from Bogota to Medellín and the flight time is 1 hour.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or need assistance.

  • To travel to Colombia you will need to have a valid passport and to fill out Colombia’s Check MIG form.

Note: The Check MIG form is Colombia's version of a health declaration form which requires all visitors to share their health status with the Colombian authorities. This form must be filled out within 72 hours of travel.

  • AeroMexico (Delta Partner), American Airlines, Avianca (United Partner), COPA (United Partner), JetBlue Airways, and Spirit Airlines.

Note: We have traveled to Medellín using all of these airlines at least once and did not have any issues.

  • You can fly non-stop to Medellín from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Miami (MIA), New York City (JFK), and Orlando (MCO).

  • When booking international flights, we always use Google Flights to see our flight options and then book directly with the airline.

Tip 1: If you are able to fly out of multiple airports, Google Flights allows you to enter up to 5 different departure airports.

Tip 2: Unlike domestic travel, we have found that it is most cost-effective to book a round-trip flight rather than two one-way flights.

  • Hopper, an online travel agency that tracks the cost of airline tickets, car rentals, etc. recommends travelers avoid booking more than 150 days (roughly 5 months) out for international trips since there’s always a chance airlines could bring prices down to adjust for demand.

Tip 1: Google Flights offers a feature called “Track Prices” that will send you an email update as prices change for your desired route.

Tip 2: To view historic flight pricing on your route, you can use FareDetective.com.

  • As of May 1, 2022, visitors to Colombia ages 18 or older must provide proof of complete vaccination for entry or a negative COVID test (48 hours in advance of travel for an antigen test or 72 hours in advance of travel for a PCR test).

Note: For more information you can visit the US Embassy in Colombia website.

  • The Medellín airport has 2 international airport lounges:

    • The Lounge Medellín International

    • Harmony Lounge

Both lounges are accessible via Priority Pass or can be accessed via paid entry.

on The Ground

  • We suggest scheduling an Uber upon arrival, scheduling a private transfer in advance, or scheduling a hotel transfer in advance.

Note: If using Uber, once you have collected your luggage on the arrivals level, you will need to go upstairs to the departure level to find your driver.

  • Shuttles will be provided for guests and will be departing from The Click Clack Hotel Medellin.

  • We highly recommend and exclusively use Uber when traveling within Medellín and have never had a single issue. Similar to the US, it guarantees your fare and shows your location along the way.

  • We highly recommend and exclusively use Uber when traveling within Medellín and have never had a single issue. Similar to the US, it guarantees your fare and shows your location along the way.

Note: Unlike the United States, it is very possible that the driver may ask you to sit in the front seat, this is completely normal and you shouldn’t be alarmed.

Note: In Colombia, vehicles are very expensive to purchase and as a result their owners hold a very high regard for their care. With that said, if you are entering or exiting a vehicle be very gentle when closing the door. By very gentle, we mean just barely closed. It is seen as disrespectful to slam the door or throw it closed.

  • We strongly advise against booking a rental car. Traffic within major cities in Colombia is much worse than any US city. Due to the high amount of motorcyclists, the driving situation can very dangerous if unfamiliar with the environment.

  • For all transportation needs, we highly suggest our transportation partner, Feel Medellín.
